Don Knight seeks the honor of representing the people of Colorado Springs' District 1 on City Council.
The Knight family moved into their Rockrimmon home in 1990. Except for two Air Force assignments from 1992 to 1996, Don and his wife Elaine have lived there ever since. Their three children attended Rockrimmon Elementary, Eagleview Middle, and Air Academy High schools. Don retired from the Air Force in 2002 and Defense Industry in 2012.Don has a great passion for Colorado Springs spearheading his Defense Industry companies' support of local charities and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) scholarships. He served in leadership positions for the local Air Force Association and National Defense Industrial Association chapters. He was a member of Colorado Springs' Chamber of Commerce and Military Affairs Council. Don mentored youth as a Colorado Springs Scoutmaster and youth soccer coach and served St Francis Catholic Church a Eucharistic Minister and Proclaimer.
After serving his nation, Don's goal is now to serve the people of District 1. His number 1 priority will be replacing the exodus of high technology companies from District 1 with a portfolio of small to large businesses and business investments across multiple industries.
In addition to a Master's degree in Computer Science, Don brings team building and strategic planning skills honed in the Air Force and Industry. In his last Air Force assignment, Don was the chief strategic planner for United States Space Command's incorporation of new missions. In Industry, he led teams creating and executing strategic plans to bring in new business opportunities. A major career skill Don developed is the ability to listen to all sides of any issue and make informed decisions for the benefit of the group. As your Councilman, Don will seek legislation to serve the best interest of our community.
